N0-13 Kinsei Shinyokei Mimikazari (Gold Heartleaf-shaped Earrings)
Three types of gold earrings were found in the Etafunayama Tumulus. One type is the “Kinsei Shinyokei Mimikazari (gold heartleaf-shaped earrings).” A cylindrical ornament with triangular cuts is attached below a gold ring, and below that hangs large and small ornaments in a heart shape called heartleaf. The cylindrical ornament in the middle is detailed with bits of gold, and the design suggests that something had been inserted into the gaps. Gold working techniques said to have come from northern people through China and Korea can be seen, and these earrings have been designated as national treasures. Their entire surface sparkles a red-tinted gold, and their beauty can be seen even in the replicas on display at the Museum of History and Folklore.
